ElectroStrainer Replaces Your Existing Sea Strainer
ElectroStrainer is plumbed before the seawater pump, directly after the seacock. Seawater enters ElectroStrainer for straining, and simultaneously becomes chlorinated by an electrochemical reaction of seawater and electricity.
The production of chlorine directly in the ElectroStrainer basket destroys unwanted marine growth, preventing micro and macro organisms in the ElectroStrainer, and through all seawater lines for optimal flow and peak performance of cooling equipment. The chlorinated seawater runs through the air conditioners, chillers, refrigerators and other systems that rely on this water for cooling.
Environmentally Friendly, No Additives Required
ElectroStrainer generates a consistent, low-level of chlorine; lower than you’ll find in tap water but enough to keep barnacles at bay. No chemical additives or acids are required.
Continuous, low-level chlorination is a proven anti-fouling treatment and controls the growth of a range of marine organisms including barnacles and biofilms. At such low levels, chlorine is not harmful to the environment. Chlorine has a very short half-life in seawater with 2/3rds decomposing back into common salt (sodium chloride) and water in about 1 minute. The seawater that exits the boat is not harmful to the environment or humans.
